You might have reason to give it a second look in the near future, though. The 9to5Mac team has discovered that the latest Dropbox beta for Mac (sadly. Dropbox is one of the most popular cloud file storage. However, the service has not been as appealing as iCloud to the users of Apple Mac because of its limited sync functionality. However, it seems that the company is now finally on the path to expand its functionality.

As per the report, the Dropbox Beta app for Mac can now support syncing desktop, documents and downloads folder along with the special folder. Till now, the sync feature of Dropbox was just limited to a special folder on macOS.
Once it is enabled, there will be a Mac folder in your dropbox containing all of your downloads folder. However, do note that this is for the Dropbox beta app, which is not easy to get hold of and the release of this feature to the official app is still pending.
The development comes just weeks after Dropbox revealed that it has reworked its core sync engine to make it easier to maintain and improve reliability.
Since the free version of Dropbox is limited to just 2 GB, the addition of this new feature can only be helpful if you are using one of the paid tiers. If you are a paid user of Dropbox, then this feature could come in handy as a seamless backup option.
Dropbox released a new beta version of its desktop application for both the Mac and Windows that offer a number of small improvements that users will certainly appreciate. The first being support of iPhoto, which obviously is only available to Mac users. Dropbox for Mac users can now import their photos through iPhoto automatically to a folder of their choice in order to allow for quick and easy backup and sharing.

Two other small improvements are also available for both the Mac and Windows beta version of Dropbox’s app. The first being Screenshot to Dropbox, which is a feature that allows you to automatically have Dropbox upload any screenshot taken automatically, as well as having it copied to your clipboard. The second feature, called Move to Dropbox, allows users to right-click any file in order to have a version of said file copied over to your Dropbox.
In addition to these improvements, Dropbox is also claiming its latest beta version will deliver “much faster upload/download speeds for large files.” We have yet to test out if their claim is indeed true, but we’re certainly looking forward to the next time we need to upload a big file through our Dropbox folder.
